The Role
We’re looking for a Business Development Executive to join our friendly and collaborative team. This is a varied role that blends supporting prospective members directly with building strong relationships with organisations who introduce new members to us.
A large part of the role is phone-based and office-led, helping people understand our products, answering queries and supporting them through their application journey. You’ll also follow up warm leads and enquiries, helping turn interest into long-term membership in a way that feels supportive and professional rather than sales driven.
Alongside this, you’ll help identify and develop relationships with business partners and introducers - building trusted, long-term partnerships that generate high-quality referrals and help grow our membership in a sustainable way.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Member Services, Marketing and the wider business to make sure prospective and existing members receive a joined-up, positive experience at every stage.
Key responsibilities include:
· Responding to enquiries from prospective members via phone, email and digital channels
· Providing clear, helpful information about Sheffield Mutual products and services
· Supporting prospective members through the application process, including completing applications over the phone
· Following up warm leads, enquiries and partially completed applications in a timely and professional manner
· Maintaining accurate records of enquiries, opportunities and outcomes within internal systems and CRM
· Identifying potential business partners and introducers aligned with Sheffield Mutual’s values and growth plans
· Supporting the onboarding and ongoing development of partner relationships
· Maintaining regular contact with partners and supporting them to generate high-quality introductions
· Managing your own pipeline of leads, prospects and partner opportunities
· Supporting the delivery of events, campaigns, networking activity and community engagement
· Sharing market and customer insights with colleagues to support continuous improvement
· Working collaboratively across teams to ensure a smooth and consistent member journey
· Working closely with Marketing, Member Services and other departments to support campaigns and lead follow-up
· Contributing ideas to improve systems, processes and ways of working
· Maintaining strong product, system and regulatory knowledge
· Representing Sheffield Mutual professionally at events and networking opportunities
What we’re looking for
You don’t need to come from a traditional financial services background, but you do need a passion for building relationships, delivering great service and helping people feel confident in their decisions.
Confidence on the phone is key as you’ll be speaking with prospective members and partners regularly and helping them feel comfortable, supported and well looked after.

· Comfortable using CRM and internal systems to manage leads and records

· Able to demonstrate professionalism, integrity and strong attention to detail
Previous experience in business development, customer service, financial services or relationship management would be helpful, but your attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn are what matter most!

- This role is predominantly on site in our office , however we are currently trialling hybrid arrangements and aim to offer this following successful probation periods.
