The benefits of saving, mutually
Posted on May 24, 2019
Our members have been our number one priority for over 125 years and we aren’t about to change that now.
As well as our members benefitting from being part of a mutual organisation, where all surplus profits go back to members not shareholders, they also have access to a whole host of other benefits.
Optical and Dental Benefits…
We currently offer discretionary grants of up to £60 every two years per member for optical and dental treatment, once the policy has passed its first anniversary.
Dental benefits include check-ups and treatment. Optical benefits include eyesight tests, glasses, contact lenses and prescription sunglasses.

Tell-a-friend about us and earn up to £50 each…
By recommending a friend or family member to the Society, both you and your friend will receive a gift card worth up to £50 after your friend’s policy starts.
There’s no limit to the number of friends or family members you can recommend and if they require advice, your friend’s policy can be arranged through them seeking help from a financial adviser.
Find out more about our Tell-a-Friend scheme here.
Enhanced sum-assured on reinvestments…
We will offer an enhanced sum-assured of 104% (normally 103%) on all maturing endowment policies reinvested into our Investment Bond.
Access to other financial products…
We’ve formed a relationship with National Friendly Financial Solutions to introduce you to extra financial products not available through Sheffield Mutual.
National Friendly Financial Solutions is a specialist telephone-based financial services company. They specialise in retirement planning and life insurance and are owned by National Friendly, a fellow mutual that shares our values.
We’re here for you…
Have a question or query regarding one of our products or services? Call, email or chat online to a member of our dedicated, knowledgeable team. We are open Monday 9am–8pm and Tuesday-Friday 9am-5pm.
Terms and Conditions apply, please read our Member Benefits flyer for more details.
As well as receiving access to these benefits, every year members get the opportunity to attend the Society's Annual General Meeting (AGM) at our office in Tankersley. Members can cast their votes on the Society, ask any questions they may have in relation to how the Society is ran and meet the Committee of Management and staff members.
