A note to Sheffield Mutual: if the 'Forum type' is set to 'Category' then only the 'Forum name' is seen on the Board Index on the web site. This description is not visible. You don't have to have Categories at all but can use them if you wish as a means to group any number of related forums.
Alternatively (or in addition to categories) you can set up forums, each containing sub-forums.
It's best to have the top-level parent forum set with 'Forum type' = 'Category' because it will then have it's 'Forum name' as the top-level heading and this heading will be displayed as a separate group to other top-level forums.
If a top-level parent forum is set as Forum type = Forum then it will be grouped together with all other top level forums (of Type Forum) under a common heading which is simply 'Forum'.
